Abstract
A 26-year-old woman, who had undergone laser treatments with alexandrite laser for removal of hair on her lower legs since March 2007, found reticulate eruption on the irradiated area after the fifth treatment in February 2008. We have often experienced three types of postinfl ammatory hyperpigmentation associated with laser-assisted hair removal, perifollicular eruption consistent with hair follicles, round eruption consistent with beam diameter, and crescent-shaped eruption consistent with the shape of the ring that touches the skin. Because“reticulate eruption”was not among these common conditions, we proposed that the reticulate eruption was caused by thermal injury associated with laser treatment. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of reticulate eruption associated with laser treatment in Japan, but we may see more in future. We report this case and provide a review of previous reports of pigmented macules. Skin Research, 10: 46-49, 2011
