Abstract
A 64-year-old woman showed a coexistence of psoriasis vulgaris, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and alopecia areata.
She had been treated with oral etretinate and topical maxacarsitol for psoriasis vulgaris. The patient was introduced to our clinic, because of an exacerbation of psoriasis and association with the development of alopecia areata. Systematic PUVA therapy was started for the treatment of psoriasis and alopecia areata. After 28 times of PUVA (130.5J/cm2-UVA in total) treatment, psoriasis as well as alopecia almost completely subsided. Coexistence of psoriasis vulgaris with a variety of auto-immune diseases have been reported so far.
However, this is the first case of psoriasis with Hasimoto’s disease and alopecia areata.
Common immunologic factors may be involved in the pathogenesis of the three diseases.
