Abstract
We studied the preventive effects of daily treatment with skin care products on the development of atopic dermatitis-like skin symptom in NC/Nga mice. The applied samples were four different cream preparations with basic moisturizing characteristics and petrolatum used as a control. After 8 weeks of treatment, the severity of skin changes was significantly lower in the cream treated groups than that of no treatment group, accompanied by a decrease in the number of scratching behaviors and the grade of TEWL increase. The observed skin effects were much better than those observed in the petrolatum treated group. Particularly, the one prepared with organic bentonite showed a marked effect. From the findings, it was suggested that the daily applications of skin care products are beneficial for the prevention of atopic dermatitis-like skin lesions.
