Abstract
A clinical study was made of Pilzcin topical reagents for the purpose of evaluating therapeuticefficacy and safety in the treatment of dermatomycosis by a study group composed of 6 institutions.
As to overall efficacy based on dermatological findings and mycological responses, efficacy rates of the cream and gel (incl. Excellent and Good) were 70.4% and 75.7% for tinea pedis, 75.0% and 100.0% for tinea corporis, 57.1% and 85.7% for tinea cruris and 88.9% and 100. 0% for intertrigo-type candidiasis, respectively.
Side effects were observed in 7 (5.6%) out of 126 patients, but these symptoms were mild such as irritation, which improved or disappeared during treatment or after drug discontinuation.
Usefulness rates of the cream and gel (incl.Very useful and Useful) based on therapeutic efficacy and side effects were 69.0% and 88.9% for tinea pedis, 91.7% and 100.0% for tinea corporis, 85.7% and 85.7% for tinea cruris and 100.0% and 100.0% for intertrigo-type candidiasis, respectively.
Based on these results, Pilzcin cream and gel, were considered useful in the treatment of dermatomycoses.
