Abstract
Ultraviolet radiation is widely used in a variety of inflammatory skin diseases including psoriasis group and vitiligo. This physical modality, however, sometimes treats immediatetype inflammation such as uremic pruritus, solar and chronic urticaria, and mastocytosis. As to the action mechanisms several clinical and experimental studies have recently been published. The author herein summarizes those results including mines particularly focusing on the effect of ultraviolet radiation on both mast cells and chemical mediators that play a key role in the development of immediate-type skin inflammation.
