Abstract
The first case was a 52-year-old female suffering from cicatrical pemphigoid. Four weeks after the daily administration of 800mg/day nicotinamide her oral mucous menbrane eruption disappeared. Nicotinamide administration was continued for 56 days. During the subsequent 1 year there was no further mucous menbrane eruption. The second case was a 66-year-old woman with bullous pemphigoid, whose bullae disappeared with the administration of 3mg betamethasone per day. From the time of betamethasone reduction to 1mg per day, the concommitant use of nicotinamide 1000mg per day was begun. Betamethasone was stopped at 6 months, after which time nicotinamide alone was administred for a further 6 months. Bullae did not reappered during the 6 month period following the termination of nicotinamide. Nicotinamide producedno side effects in either case and was thought to be a useful therapy for both diseases
