Abstract
116 patients with alopecia areata (alopecia areata 26 cases, alopecia areata multiplex 79 cases, alopecia totalis/universalis 11 cases) were treated with cryotherapy using carbon dioxide for 2 years. Hair regrowth response was 100% in alopecia areata, 100% in alopecia areata multiplex and 63.6% in alopecia totalis/universalis after this therapy for 2 years. The hair regrowth incidence in the patients treated with this therapy was higher than that in patients without this therapy. It is recommended that other treatmeuts should be chosen if there is no response after this therapy for 12-15 months.
