Here, we report on two cases of polyarteritis nodosa. Case 1 was a 66-year-old man, who presented with weight loss and livedo reticularis of the skin associated with numbness and weakness of the muscles of the extremities. Histopathological examination of the livedo showed occlusion and intimal proliferation of the small arteries accompanied by leukocyte infiltration in the dermis. Case 2 was a 73-year-old woman, who presented with livedo reticularis, high fever, numbness and muscle weakness of the extremities. In both cases, laboratory examinations showed elevations of the erythrocyte sedimentation rate, white blood cell count, and C-reactive protein. Electromyography showed features of multiple mononeuropathy. Both cases were successfully treated with oral steroid administration, and physical rehabilitation led to gradual improvement of their neurological manifestations. Skin Research, 42: 315-319, 2000
