Abstract
Pigmented macules on palms and soles in 35 cases, which consisted of 6 congenital and 29 acquired nevus pigmentosus, were treated with either carbon dioxide laser or Q-switched ruby laser. Seventeen cases out of 19 cases which had been treated with carbon dioxide laser, have completely cured. Two congenital nevus pigmentosus were, however, resistant to carbon dioxide treatment. Seven cases out of 16 cases which had been treated with Q-switched rubylaser, have been completely cured. However, after the lesion had completely disappeared, the lesion was recurred in 4 cases.
Thus, nevus pigmentosus on palms and soles had better to be treated with carbon dioxide laser rather than with Q-switched ruby laser.
