Abstract
Geographical distribution of Quercus aliena was surveyed on the basis of specimens deposited in the herbaria of 6 natural history museums in Kanto region. As a result, 74% of the " Quercus aliena " specimens were annotated to the other Quercus species or interspecific hybrids, the real Quercu aliena specimens were very few in this region. According to the result of our field survey, it is suggested that the habitats of Quercus aliena were alluvial lowlands of plain and hill region and riversides of low-mountain region. The community of Quercus aliena may be the refugia from vegetation transition and human development, because the fossil of this species are excaved from many ruins of the Jomon Period in Kanto.
