The Classification and Economic Effect Evaluation of the ”Tourist Trains” Strategy for Regional Regeneration

Abstract
Recently tourist trains' (as sightseeing objectives themselves) development strategy become more and more important for the regeneration of local line area. However there may be the cases of such tourist trains, there are few comparative study and real evaluation of economic effect. In this study, text mining method is applied to newspaper data base, and 296 tourist trains are found. Existing 67 typical tourist trains are extracted and classified by 5 attracting factors. Accordingly JR Kyushu proved to take most actively the 'tourist trains' (as a sightseeing resources) development strategy, to run 9 famous tourist trains, Of which 'IBUSUKI NO TAMATEBAKO' seems most successful. The economic effect is evaluated about ‘IBUSUKI NO TAMATEBAKO' up to ¥ 6 billion.
