GGOS Japan: Geodetic Contributions as a GGOS Affiliate

Abstract

　For the last 10 years since its original initiation as the GGOS Working Group, GGOS Japan has been actively uniting the space geodesy community in Japan, recognizing the importance of global geodesy for monitoring the dynamic Earth system. Various kinds of activities, such as organizing meeting events, initiating the special issue in the Journal of Geodetic Society of Japan, coordinating several topical themes and running multi-channel outreach programs, have been organized to promote geodetic observations and research in Japan. At the same time, GGOS Japan, as the first GGOS Affiliate, has played a role as a gateway to the international geodetic organizations.
