The Central China triangulation net including approx 80, 000 stations was adjusted astrogeodetically based on Nanking Datum, International Spheroid, by U. S. Army Map Service in 1963. The components for datum and reference ellipsoid were computed by Hunter's Formula referring to the vertical deviation of 70 astro-geodetic stations in the net, with results as
Fitted Ellipsoid: a=6 378 689m f=1;298.4
Components for Spheroid Orientation; ζ0=+0.″00 ζ0= -0.″00 N0=-0.13m
The fitted ellipsoid computed has a larger semi-major axis when compared to previous values. If the International Spheroid is used, the components of spheroid orientation will be: ζ0=+0.″00 ζ0=+0.″00 N0=-0.50m It appears that the International Spheroid is generally adaptable throughout the south of Central China, Indochina and Thailand.
