Abstract

Several years of repetition of GPS observation at the Sagami Bay area, south Kanto, Japan, suggest that the crustal deformation is proceeding in the area with roughly north-south extention and east-west contraction. West to south-westward migration of southern tip of the Izu Peninsula, northward migration of the Izu-Oshima island, and north-westward migration of southern tip of the Boso Peninsula are also found . These deformations seem to be harmonious with other geodetic data and tectonic models .
