Abstract
Recently, some measurement methods using short-duration time-average sound pressure level have been proposed. When the measurement duration is very short (for example, less than 1s), because of the time delay caused by the exponential time weighting for sound level, the time-average sound pressure level determined from sampled sound level data sometimes differ from the time-average sound pressure level determined from the definition. In this paper, a procedure using an inverse filter of exponential time weighting is proposed to eliminate the time delay effect caused by the exponential time weighting. By this procedure, because the sampled sound levels are obtained as discreet values, some of the time-average sound pressure levels determined by this procedure may show negative infinitive decibels. A practical method for solve this problem is also proposed.
