Abstract
At the stage of upper processes in IT projects such as requirement definition, basic design, etc., it is an important factor for project success to control software sizes within the project budget as well as to clarify the requirement specifications of the application software. As one of the methods to make objective decisions for controlling software size, concept of ROI (Return on Investment) is adopted, which judges whether a customer requirement should be accepted by comparing advantages of the functions of the requirement and the costs to realize the requirement. This paper reports one of the practical examples and considers effectiveness of the ROI method.
