Abstract
The objective of this study was to clarify the optimum sampling rate that can accurately measure the peak acceleration which is the basis of fatigue failure of product/package with minimal data amount in the measurement of transport vibration. A program for detecting peak acceleration from time history data was developed by using MATLAB. Time history data were obtained from the PSD profile in the JIS Z 0200:2013 at different kurtosis values (8192 data points for one data set, and 10 data sets were generated at each Kurtosis value of 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0). The data were then thinned out to 1/1 (original), 1/2, 1/4, 1/8. 1/16. 1/32, or 1/64, corresponding to sampling rates of 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.8, 1.6, 3.2, or 6.4 ms, respectively. The accumulated fatigue was calculated from the peak acceleration values with different acceleration coefficients (AC). A significant difference test for the fatigue values was performed between the original data sampling (0.1 ms) and other sampling conditions. The sampling rate at which the accumulated fatigue could be accurately evaluated under an AC value of 2.0 was 0.8 ms (1,250 Hz). This sampling interval was smaller than 1/3 of that from the sampling theorem in analyzing the maximum frequency of 200 Hz (more than 400 Hz and less than 2.5 ms).
