Abstract
In the blow-tank conveying system materials are charged and sealed up in the tank at the beginning of each transport cycle and then blown off into a conveying pipe by a high compressed air. By this system it is possible to transport the materials in high concentration over a long distance. In recent years the application of this system has been widely made in many fields of industory, but investigations into the performance characteristics are scarce with its practical importance.
This work is made to investigate into the effect of the following terms on the characteristics; tank inlet pressure; initial charging fraction of solids in the tank; length of conveying pipe and primary air fraction.
From the experimental study, the following results are obtained. The mass flow rate of solids is proportional to the initial charging fraction of solid in the tank and to the tank inlet pressure. The efficiency of transport of solids of a given mass flow rate is better when a large value of initial charging fraction and primary air fraction and a small value of tank inlet pressure are selected.
