Abstract
The collection mechanism of aerosol particles at the initial period of cloth filtration is herein experimentally elucidated. The experimental results, obtained by using monodispersed aerosol, are presented as a correlation between the initial collection efficiency η0 of an isolated thread and a modified inertial parameter Ψ*. If the particle size is much smaller than the opening size of a woven cloth, the collection mechanism of particle is almost due to the inertial impaction, and the collection efficiency does not depend on the structure and material of a filter cloth.
