Abstract

Information in tourism refers to facts and content that should be communicated to people about tourist attractions such as transportation, leisure, lodging, and dining, etc. The quality of information influences the behavior of potential tourists. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted via the Internet to understand the perceptions of citizens living in various parts of Japan and their behavioral decisions about tourist information. The results of the survey suggest that tourism information as communicative knowledge may influence citizens’ judgment and behavior, and that these are issues that should be considered along with concerns about the promotion of local tourism.
