Abstract

In the last decade we did experience a tremendous evolution of techniques in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery first of all with respect to virtual surgical planning. This opens a new avenue for patient specific treatment using minimal invasive techniques.
With this keynote first of all an overview is given, where OMFS historically comes from in Germany, how education, training and specialization is set up and which techniques nowadays are used for different indications (congenital & acquired deformities, craniofacial and orthognathic surgery, tumor and reconstructive surgery).
