Abstract

Candida albicans was selected as a object of investigation at first. Isolation of candida from oral cavity was done and 21 strains of candida were isolated from oral cavity of 100 healthy persons (male 58, female 42).
In 21 strains, 18 were candida albicans, 1 candida tropicalis, 1 candida Krusei and candida parakrusei. Accordingly candida was found at the rate of 21 %(male 12%, female 33.3 %).
And then biological relation between candida albicans and lactobacillus was studied with following results.
1) Candida albicans promoted the growth of lactobacillus and its acid production.
2) Filtrate of culture fluid of lactobacillus promoted the growth of candida albicans.
Now it has been known that phosphate promotes the growth of candida albicans. So that the influence of dental cement which contains phosphate upon candida albicans was examined and it was found that dental cement promoted markedly the growthof candida albicans.
