Abstract
Fatigue cracks have occurred around welded joints of sole plate in composite girder of Sanyo-Shinkansen. Generally, main factor of these cracks is deterioration of movability of bearing. And replacement of sole plate and bearing is effective for reducing this fatigue damage. However, the cost of this construction is high, so development of alternative method is imperative necessity. In this study, we developed easy and low-cost reinforcement method by FEM analysis and test construction. As a result, it was found that installation of angle steel with vertical rib to the upper side of lower flange was effective as reinforcement for fatigue damage of welded joints of sole plate.
