Abstract

Steel-plate concrete composite decks have been increasingly applied to new bridge constructions or floor slab replacement works, because of their excellent workability and durability. However, for the steel-plate concrete composite deck, visual testing cannot be applied for the inspection of delamination or water ingress between steel-plate and concrete. In this study, an active infrared thermography method is proposed as a method for efficiently detecting water ingress and delamination in the composite deck. The applicability of the proposed technique is investigated by experiments and numerical simulations.
