Abstract

The present paper aims at the development of temporary brackets used for erection of additional girders for bridge maintenance construction. A lightweight and highly rigid shape made of casting without welding joints is derived using topology optimization techniques. First, FEA (finite element analysis) of the current shape is performed, and topology analysis is performed using the result as a standard for comparison. After that, we use a three-dimensional sand mold additive manufacturing a test body, performance is evaluated through a full-scale loading test. From experimental results, the effectiveness of the optimal shape using the topology optimization technique is evaluated.
