Abstract
A 65-year-old man was admitted to the hospital with complaints of dysorexia, nausea and jaundice. Abdominal CT showed a mass lesion in the pancreas head. MRCP showed dilation of the common bile duct. Pancreatoduodenectomy was performed under the diagnosis of extrahepatic bile duct carcinoma of the lower third. Histopathological examination revealed moderately differentiated tubular adenocarcinoma in the pancreas head. Invasion into the common bile duct without occlusion of the main pancreatic duct (MPD) was noted. The Ki-67 Labeling Index (LI) (10%) and the nate of expression of p53 protein LI (28%) were low. The number of intraductal cancerous components was also few. It is suggested that pancreatic carcinoma without MPD occlusion may have a relatively low malignant potency.
