The Japan Pancreas Society published the first edition of the General Rules for the Study of Pancreatic Cancer in 1980. Seven years have passed since the fifth edition was published in 2002. The committee made minor changes to the fifth edition, and published the sixth edition in 2009. Minor changes included a description of pancreatic resection and a new histological classification.
