Endoscopic therapy using double balloon enteroscopy for strictures in post-surgical pancreatic anastomosis

Abstract

The endoscopic approach for pancreatobiliary disease in patients with surgically altered gastrointestinal anatomy had been generally considered difficult. However, it was radically made practical by the introduction of double balloon enteroscopy (DBE). The efficacy and the successful results of endoscopic interventions have been widely reported, particularly for biliary diseases. Whereas, only few studies on pancreatic diseases can be found. In this study, we provide a review of endoscopic interventions using DBE for pancreatic diseases with strictures in surgically altered gastrointestinal anatomy, focusing on strictured anastomosis in pancreaticojejunostomy.
