Abstract

An atomic absorption spectrometric method combined with4-benzoyl-3-methyl-1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone (BMPP)-MIBK extraction was studied for the determination of five elements (Co, Cu, Mn, Ni and Pb) in solar salt samples. The proposed procedure was as follows: About 60 g of the sample was dissolved in distilled water, the pH was adjusted to 8 with NH4OH-NH4Cl buffer and then the volume of the solution was set to 300 ml with distilled water. Next 10 ml of 0.4w/v% BMPPMIBK solution was added and the mixture was shaken vigorously for 5 minutes and then the separated organic layer was analyzed with standard addition method by atomic absorption spectrometry.
The proposed method could be sucessfully applied for the determination of trace elements in solar salt sample.
