Abstract
An experimental study of the spray flash desalination has been made. Superheated water isinjected into the low pressure chamber through a nozzle. Temperature of the superheated wateris 30°C lower than that of conventional desalination plant, which is nearly equal to temperature ofthe surface seawater temperature. Effect of nozzle shape is studied by using three types of nozzles: cylindrical, oblong and 4-holes. The reduction of the non-equilibrium temperature difference (NETD) and phenomena of the spray flash evaporation are shown. The spray flash evaporation is enhancedbest with the 4-holes nozzle. Desalination water is obtained sufficiently by any of the three types of nozzles.
