Subcritical water oxidation was applied to the degradation of organic matter in a jellyfish solution. The total amount of the remaining organic matter following subcritical water oxidation was estimated by measuring the value of chemical oxygen demand (COD). The initial COD of 890 mg/liter decreased with an increase in the concentrations of hydrogen peroxide, and in the presence of 18% hydrogen peroxide, the COD was 30 mg/l. During subcritical water oxidation, 6200 ppm carbon dioxide was produced. Toxic sulfur dioxide detected was less than 0.2 ppm.
