Abstract
The spinel-magnesia composite clinker has been prepared trough heating of a MgO Al12-Mg17 compact atmosphere.A112Mg17alloy changes into A14C3,spinel,MgO and carbon at Iower temperature.Further, the Al4C3reacts with MgO and CO gas at elevated temperatures to form spinel and carbon. The precipitated carbon phase is amorphous and finely distributed among the sphlel and MgO phases. In comparing with the other obtained clinkers, presented in the previous works[utilizing MgO-AI or MgO-(A120C)0.5(AlN〉0.5 compacts]1)・2),the present clinker forms at lower temperature, but it oxidizes at lower temperature either.
