Abstract

To evaluate the effect of trans-boundary and regional air pollution regarding aerosol, we collected aerosols from 14 March 2007 through 28 March 2007 in Matsuyama, Osaka and Tsukuba. From the concentration of metal components and the ratio of metal concentrations , we evaluated the effect of anthropogenic pollutants and soil elements to chemical constituents in aerosols, based on the backward trajectory analysis. As for metals of anthropogenic origin, the concentration levels and variations were quite different in three sampling sites. A high Pb/Zn ratio observed in Matsuyama was consistent with previous report for Beijing. In Matsuyama, the low V/Mn ratios were observed when the air mass traveled over central or northern China; on the other hand, the high V/Mn ratios were observed regarding local air pollution. Metal concentration ratio of Tsukuba almost corresponded to those of the crust and the soil. From the analysis conducted of Pb/Zn, V/Mn , La/Sm and La/V in the aerosols, the validity of the metal concentration ratios as the index of long-range transported and regional air pollution were clarified.
