Abstract

In order to analyse the diffusion processes of pollutants emitted from a moving aircraft in the unsteady sea and land breezes, it is reasonable to use a puff diffusion model. There are many ideas have been proposed to get the diffusion parameters in the model. In this case they are estimated by applying the direct search optimization technique to the results of tracer experiment, which was carried out around the site of proposed New Kansai International Airport, for a certain meteorological condition.
Three-dimensional parameters are obtained as a result, and the effect of internal boundary layer can be shown explicitly in them. Very good agreements are presented between observed and calculated instantaneous concentrations as well as mean isopleths by using the estimated diffusion parameters.
