Abstract

In June 2006, a 63-year-old woman visited our hospital with jaundice. Abdominal CT scan revealed a tumor with 25 mm maximum diameter in the neck of gallbladder. Invasion to duodenum and right hepatic artery was suspected. Also PTCD revealed the stenosis of hepatic duct bifurcation. We performed laparotomy after the diagnosis of the gallbladder cancer invading the biliary duct, the right hepatic artery, and the duodenum. We performed the complete removal of the right lobe and Spiegel leaf, and of extrahepatic duct. In March 2009, an abdominal CT scan revealed a 17×10×19 cm cystic tumor and ascites. In June 2009, total hysterectomy and omentectomy were performed because of suspicion of a malignant ovarian tumor. After the analysis of the histopathological results, the ovarian tumor was diagnosed as metastasis of the gallbladder cancer. After the operation, we performed Gemcitabine-based chemotherapy. At the present, the patient is alive and not showing any signs of recurrence. Metastatic ovarian tumors frequently derive from gastrointestinal cancer, but ovarian metastasis from gallbladder cancer is relatively rare.
