Abstract
A 62-year-old woman consulted her doctor for pyrexia and right hypochondralgia. She had high levels of hepatobiliary enzymes of the blood examination, and abdominal CT showed gallstones with gallbladder wall thickness and the intrahepatic bile duct dilatation. She was admitted to our hospital with the diagnosis of acute cholangitis. ERCP findings showed the upper bile duct stricture. We observed the stricture with SpyGlasss®, and performed histological examination with the biopsy and the brushing cytology of the stricture. We diagnosed her as upper bile duct cancer by the result of brushing cytology, and carried out an operation. The histological diagnosis was xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis and extrahepatic and intrahepatic cholangitis.
