Abstract

The Japanese guidelines primarily recommended multidetector-row CT (MDCT), and then recommended MRI and PET to diagnose biliary tract cancer. This is because the correct diagnosis rate for CT was as high as around 90%. The determination of resectability is made based on the local extension of the tumor and the presence of distant metastases by various types of imaging information data. MRI is useful to detect liver metastases and grasp the outline of the biliary tract. PET is suitable to diagnose distant metastases and suggest the prognosis. Here, we show various cases of imaging and summarize the benefits of CT, MRI, and PET.
