Abstract

MRI offers unique contrasts such as diffusion-weighted or fat-suppressed with T1- or T2-weighted images. A hepatocyte-specific contrast agent is also available in addition to nonspecific gadolinium chelates. In this review, the mechanism of contrast in such imaging techniques is discussed, using the diseases frequently encountered and that recently attracted attention as material.
