Prevention of Complications in EBD/EUS-BD

Abstract

In addition to endoscopic biliary drainage (EBD: Endoscopic Biliary Drainage), endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage (EUS-BD: EUS guided Biliary Drainage) is being performed mainly at high volume centers. Although both EBD and EUS-BD have been reported to have good success rates at high volume centers, they sometimes cause serious complications, so drainage should be performed with an understanding of how to prevent and deal with complications. In particular, EUS-BD should be performed by or under the supervision of a endoscopist who is familiar with biliary endoscopy and EUS.
