Abstract
It is very difficult to make a definite diagnosis of the disorder at the papilla of Vater preoperatively or at the time of surgery. For the diagnosis of papillary stenosis and stenosis associated with papillary insufficiency, we have referred the results of passability of metal sounds and intraoperative biliary manometry using the perfusion methed. In this study, biliary flowmetry method was established using bile duct models. In order to verify its clnical use, the applicability of this new modality and perfusion method was evaluated in dogs with stenosis or stenosis associated with insufficiency of the papilla experimentally induced. When papilla of Vater was disabled, biliary manometry with perfusion method showed shortened dumping time with normal like wave pattern, and biliary flowmetry showed high flow rate with high opening pressure. We concluded that combination of these two type of manometry methed is useful for differental diagnosis of disorders of the papilla.
