Status of Carbon Research and Industry in Korea

Abstract

Carbon researches and industries in Korea is far behind the advanced countries. Almost all carbon products are being imported from Japan, America, Germany, and France. From 1980, some institutes and universities have started to research carbon materials. Recently some small and medium scale industries were established to produce carbon materials such as active carbon, graphite heating element, carbon black, carbon fibers, and so on. However, the production scale is very small. In Korea, we have no carbon society as yet. Recently many carbon researches and Industry men have an interest to establish a carbon materials society in Korea.
