Combustion Characteristics of Carbons

Abstract

Combustion characteristics of natural graphite, cokes from various origins, soot, molded carbon articles from various carbons above mentioned and some carbon brushes in market were studied using a Dr. Honda's thermo-balance.
Discussing these results, to obtain carbon brushes having superior qualities to commutation, soot must be treated with binders mixing perfectly as each particles of soot covered with thin film of pitch, molded, and graphitised up to 2500°C or higher temperature.
