Carbon Nanotubes and Nanofibres: Exotic Materials of Carbon

Abstract

Nanotube research has developed rapidly over the last decade, following the bulk production of C₆₀ and structural identification of carbon nanotubes. This review summarises achievements in nanotube and nanofibr technology, in particular, various routes to filamentous carbon and their remarkable mechanical and electrical conducting properties. These advances are paving the way to nanoscale technology and promise to provide a wide spectrum of applications.
