Abstract
This experimental study was executed for the purpose of studying the Characteristics of Carbon-brush and brush-holder.
In this experiment a model of commutator being used, Vibration of the brush in case of sliding contact and mechanism of the contact were investigated .
From results of this experiment following items were concluded:
(1) The vibration of brush being accompanied by the friction between brush and segment, consists of two components .
One being occured by collision with segment directly, the other by forced vibration arised from rotating machine itself .
On the vibration by collision the vibration of brush itself being the mort important subject, on the vibration by forced vibration the spring of holder is similarly .
(2) The Characteristics of vibration do not only depend on the material of brush, but also the vibration of external part considerably .
In addition to above, this report deals with a proposal of preventing the vibration.
