Abstract

This report deals with the description of the recent progress of the welding in Japan including the outlines of research works. The remarkable fcature in are welding in Japan are the use of alternating current welding machines and coated electrodes with great success. The amount of consumption of electrodes in the leading factories for use of the electric welding is given, showing the progress of industrial applications of electric welding in the last five years. Some photographs of arc welded building, tanks, vessels, etc. are given illustrating these welding applications. Among the research works prominent scientific investigations such as on welding arc; relation between the weldnig and various properties of metals; welded structures, mechanical and electromagnetic properties of deposit metal; welding of special steels and cast iron are given.
