Abstract

The author carried out a series of experiments with seven varieties of high spe steel, namely low tungsten steel, low tungsten-molybden-vanadium steel and high chromium stet and studied changes in their hardness and cutting durability brought about by different heat treatment As the results of his experiment, there are ascertained that the steel containing W5-6%, Mo1·5-3%, V2·5-3·0% are most superior in cutting durability to other steels at 1260° of quenching temperatur and cutting durability of low tungsten steel containing 11% W are highest at 1300° near, and the high chromium steel containing Cr7-9%, Si1.5-2.5% are inferior to any other high speed steer
