Abstract
The Rikuzen Shichigaham a is a peninsula, the northern shore of whichfaces to the Matsushima Bay, and is one of the most typical villages of fishery and agriculture in Miyagi prefecture. Consisting of seven hamlets, it has been called Shichigahama from ancient times. ---Shichigahama means seven beaches.
Those who live in the northern shore hamlets utilize the bay for shallow sea cultivate and at the same time engage in agriculture; while the people in the south, being affected by the tide of the Pacific Oeau live on settle fishery, and many in the east go out to deep seas for work because of their serious surplus population compaired with the cultivated areas.
These three different modes of fishery mentioned. above make up naturall three characteristic hamlets on the peninsula.
The settle fishery, however, is getting dull since the Black Current turned. On the contrary the southern. fishery is gradually turning into trawling.
