Abstract

Around the time of the high economic growth period, the road maintenance and construction were commenced in Japan's cities, which performed as the execution of land readjustment projects for the progress of motorization and disaster prevention. Conversely, precincts surrounding buildings with large sites, such as a shrine, were subject to extensions and declines in the freedom degree of the construction plans, thus leading to difficulties in the projects. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of road maintenance and construction on the existing site by both theoretical and empirical analysis. To start with, we use the random strip to develop a model for calculating the expected value at which the roads intersect the building site. Subsequently, we apply the model to data on actual roads and shrines in Nagoya.
