Abstract

There are often gaps between academic language and language used in the general society. NHK, Japan Broadcasting Corporation defined terms and languages used for broadcasting as “broadcasting language”. Broadcasting language is necessary to accurately convey information to many people on public broadcast. Yamaguchi (2008) defined that “the term becomes socialized” that technical terms or academic language are used in media and the society. In the era when natural disasters become intense, such as by global warming, this paper is examined for disaster prevention and reduction, consider what should be the geographical terms related to disasters, from the viewpoint of science/risk communication in media.
