Relationship Between Ice Nucleation Temperature Depression and Equilibrium Melting Points Depression of Medaka (Oryzias latipes) Embryos

Abstract

We measured the ice nucleation temperature depression , ΔT_f , and equilibrium melting points depression, ΔT_m, of Medaka (Oryzias latipes) embryos with different cryoprotectant (ethylene glycol, 1.3-propanediol, 1.4-butanediol, glycerol aqueous solutions) treatments. Our obtained results showed the good relationship between the ΔT_f ,and ΔT_m all samples. In addition the value of λ , which can be obtained from the linear relationship, ΔT_f =λ ΔT_m, were confirmed to show correlation with the value of λ , as obtained by the W/O emulsion method.
